This week’s artist of the week is 18 year old future-bass producer Whethan. Born in Chicago, Whethan is one of the biggest up-and-coming names in the electronic world. Whethan has been touring with Louis The Child in 2018 following a 2017 where he opened for The Chainsmokers on their “Memories Do Not Open” arena tour. He also headlined his own “Good Nights Tour” in the fall, in which he brought along Bearson, SAINT WKND, Opia and Ashe for various legs of the two-month tour.
In 2018, Whethan’s first release was a bootleg of Brockhampton’s “Stain” via SoundCloud in late January, followed by the release of the “Honey” EP, a collaboration with fellow Chicago-bred future bass duo Louis The Child, only a few days later. In early February, his song “High” featuring vocals from international pop superstar Dua Lipa, was featured on the Fifty Shades Freed Soundtrack. The song has already amassed over 13 million streams on Spotify alone and continues to hold its own as a crossover hit. In March he released yet another single, “Be Like You” featuring alternative singer Broods.
Whethan’s latest work comes as a surprise drop, the 30 minute mix on the Too Future. Guest Mix, as its 100th guest DJ. You can listen to it below:
